Sleepy Sunday!

I'm kinda sleepy today. It's cloudy outside, and it looks like it might rain, so that attributes to the sleepiness I guess. Are you wondering why I'm not napping? Well, I'm working on some school stuff. I've got my 9:30 client just about ready, I just need to print some things out. My 1:00 will be easy, so that's taken care of. But, I start a new client on Tuesday, and this Wednesday I'll be doing the diagnostic evaluation of a patient that will become mine...so I'll have 4 patients! FOUR! I'm ready for summer clinicals to be over. I'd rather it be the fall semester, taking classes with projects to do, and spend 8 hours a day for three days a week at my externship site (still without pay). I'm ready for a change of pace, people!

Yesterday was Lauren's wedding shower! The theme was fancy shoes, so take a look at this cake! It was a shoe box, with a shoe made as a copy of the shoes she'll wear on her wedding day.

She got some good presents, and the food was really good too. We had an awesome cheese ball (I need to get that recipe, by the way), chocolate covered strawberries, cheese/meat tray, fruit platter with that tasty fruit dip, with other yummy treats. Here is the future bride herself making a plate...Lauren!

Oh, and here's another photo from the shower. From left to right its me, Lauren & Meagan. Meagan is the Lauren's older sister, and also the maid of honor. The other two bridesmaids couldn't be there...bummer deal dude!

Anyway, I'm gonna finish a few more things that I need to do. Gotta email a supervisor, do a speech sample, and then maybe I'll have time for a nap! :) Later!

The Weekend is Here Baby!

YEEHAW!!! My weekend is here baby!!! I went to church tonight, and went to dinner afterwards with my Kenan! :)

Man, what is with this pain under my ribs? I feel like I need to stretch it out, but its not workin'! Maybe its a gas bubble? Okay, I can't believe I'm posting stuff about my possible gaseous pains...moving on...

I had an eventful day during clinics. You wanna hear about it? No? Well, then stop reading now, cause I'm gonna talk about it anyway...

My 9:30 client (the supposed "terror," as I've referred to him previously), was pretty determined as to what he was going to do and what he was NOT going to do today. I ended up tricking him into doing what I wanted him to do WHILE he did what he wanted to do. Then out of nowhere he decides to take his shirt off (he's 6 by the way). I didn't mind, because I didn't want to have a battle with him over something like that. Anyway! So after he takes his shirt off, he's looking in the mirror and rubbing his chest and says, "I have big Ta-Tas!" I laughed, and said, "you do?" Then he proceeds to tell me that sometimes he says, "Titty grabber!" I kinda chuckled again, and he said, "My mawmaw says that's a bad word." I said, "Yeah, you probably shouldn't say it." After hearing the "titty grabber" comment, the only thing running through my mind is, "Dear God, please don't let this kid grab my chest! Cause if he gets a handful of boob, I'm OUTTA HERE!" Then he sort of lunges toward me with a claw-like hand but a bit higher than my chest, and he doesn't actually grab me, and I throw my arms up to block my goods and jokingly say, "Don't get me!" Luckily he was distracted by my awesomely creative activity I had planned, and moved on to that.

My 1:00 patient went really well today. He made some progress, and did very well with the drills we did. Near the end he pulled out pictures of his children and grandchildren to show me. It made me happy when he did that because it let me know that he's comfortable with me, which makes me think that I'm doing a good job!

Tomorrow night is a surprise baby shower for our youth pastor's wife, Julie. It is their fourth child/second son. They've had some beautiful children, and I can't wait to see this next one! :) Also, the big game is tomorrow night...Spurs vs. Pistons...should be a good one! Watch it! Or....don't. Whichever! It's all up to you!

Okay, well I believe I've filled you all in on enough stuff for one night. Good night boys and girls! :)

To bed or to post? (Looks like posting won!)

I was gonna go to bed around 9:15, but I'm still up, and still goofin' around on the computer! And the thing is...I'm completely and uttlerly worn out. I got back from Quitman around 8:00, and I was ready for bed then. So why the crud am I still awake? It's a mystery even to me.

Man, I've decided that I need a digital camera. I have a great little canon film camera, but I have to scan the printed pictues that I post on this blog, and the quality of a scanned photo is...well let's face it...it's poo. I got a digital camera a few years ago for Christmas, but it's busted. I guess I'll start looking around to see what I like. I'll be getting another school loan reimbursement this fall, so maybe I'll buy one then. We'll see...

Okay dudes, I'm out. My eyes are friggin' burning from looking at the computer monitor too long.

Headed to Quitman!

Tomorrow, well actually, today (since it's past midnight) I'll be heading to Quitman, Texas, the small and quaint town I grew up in. An old friend is getting married, so Nate and I are taking a road trip. I am really looking forward to seeing some old friends I grew up with. I'm just not looking forward to driving four hours there, and four hours back all in the same day! But for those of you who know Nate...he's a talker, so I'm sure there won't be a dull moment.

Alrighty...now for your viewing pleasure, take a gander at one kRaZy kitty! Felix is one of the funniest cats. He is definitely the curious cat. You give him a paper sack or an empty laundry basket, and he's got at least 30 minutes of entertainment. Here he found the 10 gallon bucket we were about to use to clean out the ashes in the fireplace. He peeked inside and decided to jump on in...he's a hoot!

Well people, I'm getting tired. I should head off to bed! Good night!

It Be Friday!

Well its a little past noon on Friday. I've gotten some things done around the house. (I've cleaned the entire kitchen, taken out ALL of the trash from the house, went the post office for my dad, and got some breakfast at Southern Maid.) I still have to hang up some clean laundry, and do my first drafts of 3 different reports for school. The reports are what I'm not looking forward to. Plus, I'm not feeling so great...its about that "time o' the month." Yeah...not fun.

Oh! I've started to learn how to post pictures. Here is a picture of me and my cousin Alicia at her high school graduation. Congratulations Lisha!

Well, I guess it's about time I get some school work done.

Arrivederci! (To my non-Italian speaking friends...you can take a shot a what you think that means!) ;)

PS - How do you guys like my new blog design? Cool huh? Plus, I figured out how to put links on the sidebar...I'm movin' on up in the html world! :)

Magnificent Monday!

Well there have been a few blips in the day, but God has helped me keep a smile on my face! I set my alarm last night for 6:15, but apparently I forgot to turn the blasted thing on. I woke up a bit upset at my dad because he was mowing and stuff right by my window. I was lying there thinking, "Why in the world does he friggin' mow the lawn so stinkin' early? It always wakes me up!" Then I thought to myself, "self...what time is it, anyway?" As I rolled over to look at my clock, I realized that it was 15 minutes to 8:00. I was hoping to leave my house at 7:30 to get to school by 8:00, but that didn't happen. I hurled the covers off of me, and dashed to the bathroom (to make myself presentable enough to go into public). I washed my hair, threw on some makeup, brushed my teeth, fixed the 'do and flew out the door. I was in my car at 8:08...pretty quick, eh? I got to school at 8:30, so it wasn't too bad. Then I realized, "Crud, I have the so-called 'TERROR' today!" I prayed all the way to school, so I was leanin' heavy on God to help me through it!

So, how did it go with the "terror?" Honestly, not bad at all. He actually sat down at the table and drilled the target words with me. (He earned basketball shots for every two he did.) We did a science experiment, and read a book (shocked me that he actually sat through that!), and followed-up with a craft. He was a bit rowdy, but I didn't mind that. I just didn't want him to be hateful! But I had him laughing and stuff, so I think he had fun. I'm hoping this "good session trend" continues!

Of course I enjoyed my 1:00 patient with the man with apraxia. He's funny. He makes me laugh, and I think he laughs at me (maybe with me, but I'm not sure yet)! haha!

Also, my 3:00 patient has cancelled for the semester (the cute bilingual boy). So I only have two patients, but I'm sure they'll quickly assign me a third.

Anyway, I have a birthday party to go to for a fellow clinician's client. Au revoir!

My Friday Night!

So I had a girls night last night! Two friends from school (Gigi & Redkey - HA!) and I went and got sushi! Oh man, it was yummy! Afterwards, we all piled in Gina's car (left mine there) and drove around the cRaZy Beaumont, Texas. We looked at houses, drove here and there, got Starbuck's, and almost went to play putt-putt. We pulled up to Colorado Canyon (the putt-putt place) and decided that there was WAY too many people. We didn't want to have to wait around to play a lousy round of miniature golf. So we went to Target instead. Gosh, I just love that store. It's great! After that, it was about 9:30 or so, and we were calling it a night. Gina & Lauren dropped me off at my car in the Tokyo's parking lot. I reached for my phone to call Kenan, because I was gonna go hang with him for a couple of hours or so. I realize that I my phone isn't in the normal spot in my purse, and I frantically begin to search for it. I look up at Gina's car, and she's rounding the corner of the building (she went around the back way to come out and hit Dowlen Rd at Rao's bakery). I jump and wave my arms in hopes she would see me, and stop, but she didnt. I knew my phone was in her car, and how was I going to call Kenan without it?!?! I was troubled. I put my things in my car, and without much thought, I sprinted down the Tokyo's parking lot toward Dowlen Rd. I cut across the grass in front of Novrozsky's (some guy in a truck honked at me) and I see Gina coming up to Dowlen Rd ready to pull out. I'm yellling, "GINA! GINA!" as I continue my sprint (in my FloJos flip flops nonetheless). I was so worried she would pull out right as I got close enough, but I made it JUST IN TIME! Lauren and Gina just laughed at me as I picked my phone up from the back seat. Whew! That was a close one. I called Kenan on my slow and winded trek back to my car. I didn't tell him of my story at first...just asked him about his day. He goes, "you sound out of breath..." HA!

Kinda Bored Over Here!

Well, since I don't have classes during the summer (just clinicals), I have Thursday-Sunday off. So my Wednesday is like everyone else's Friday. So today (Thursday), being my first day of the weekend, I thought I'd enjoy it. I've been home by myself all day. I did get some things accomplished though (i.e. went and got breakfast, did the dishes, paid some bills, balanced the checkbook, watched a movie, etc.). I'm kinda feeling lazy, and a little bored. Well crap...I haven't even showered today. I guess I'll go do that now...even though I'll be staying at the house tonight (most likely). The MTV Movie Awards are on tonight, so I'll probably end up watching that.

Signing off for now...

First day of Summer Clinic!

Welp! Today was my first day of summer clinicals. My 9:30 client couldn't come today, so he'll come on Wednesday. (He's the one that is a supposed terror! I think I'm going to do some science experiments with him to hopefully keep his interest.) My 1:00 patient is a 40-something year old man with verbal apraxia of speech. The stroke he had negatively effected his speech. He knows what he wants to say, but he can't make his mouth say it. I was nervous about having him as a client. But he's great. He knows when he says things wrong, and he just laughs. Then my 3:00 patient is a young bilingual boy. He didn't show up today, so hopefully he'll be here on Wednesday.

Tonight I think I'm going to Kenan's. His grandpa is having a music night. It's gonna be a Hoedown!

Also, I've joined the myspace community for those who care. (Charlie, I know you dont! haha!) Click here to view myspace!

Sorry this post isn't very interesting. I promise I'll have more amusing stories when I get to see my young kids in therapy. If the "terror" calls me names, you'll be hearing of it! haha!

Adios Amigos!

It's Back to "Skoo!"

Well, yesterday was my first day back at school for the summer. I got my caseload (3 patients). One of them is supposedly a hateful, mean-spirited boy who is about 7 years old. I was kind of bummed when I found out that I got him, but now I feel like it will be a good challenge for me. I can work on figuring him out. The other two patients are interesting, and will hopefully be fun.

Today I'm at school to meet with a supervisor and to get ready for Monday's clinic. I need to get treatment plans done so I can enjoy my weekend. So that's my goal for today: BE COMPLETELY READY FOR CLINIC ON MONDAY!

Tomorrow night is my brother's band (The Red Airplanes) CD Release night at The North Church. The 11-track album was mass duplicated, and came shrink wrapped and everything. It looks pretty slick! I'm thinking there will be a great turn out and will be a huge success for his band. (That reminds me, I need to buy the new shirt to wear that night.) So check them out (new site design coming soon): The Red Airplanes!

Welp! I guess that's all I've got for now. Until I write again...
