Is it just a load of crap?

So, I got to thinking tonight. I was lying in bed, trying to go to sleep early because basically, I was tired of thinking. But when I lie in bed, that's the time when I think the most. There's no one to talk to (except God), and the only sound is the ceiling fan above me. So, what should have been a retreat from my thoughts tonight, was more of an encounter.

I couldn't sleep; my thoughts wouldn't quit coming. So I finally decided to get up, and make a post on the old bloggeroo hoping it would be a cathartic release of my thoughts to ease my mind into a sweet sleep...

The famous saying, "It is better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all" was on my mind as I laid in bed tonight. Now, previously, I had always thought that saying was "oh, so poetic." It is a romantic thought, isn't it? Or is is just a load of crap? I'm beginning to think more of the latter...it's just a load. I mean, if you've never loved at all, you wouldn't know what it is like to really love someone, but yet, the painful feeling of rejection would be unfamiliar. I do agree that it is a wonderful feeling to be in love, but then to feel the hurt of loss, is quite brutal to the heart.

So, I'm thinking of ditching the old poetic saying. I'm leaning more toward "ignorance is bliss..."

It's Back to School for Stace!

So, school has officially started back up since Hurricane Rita hit. No one knew the severity of the situation prior to the storm. The last class day before Rita struck, our teachers said, "well, hopefully we won't have to evacuate. But if class is cancelled Thursday, y'all have a safe weekend." (assuming we'd be back the following week...) On the contrary, we missed almost an entire month of school. Which some would say, "HECK YES!" But no, there was no "heck yes-ing" around here. That counts as our winter break, so we have classes until the 22nd of December. Which is a pretty big bummer. I always enjoyed having the three weeks off before Christmas...it helps me get into the holiday mood. I have a feeling that Christmas will be here before I know it, and then BAM! You've got carolers on your doorstep singing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" hoping you'll invite them in for some hot cocoa. Wait...it's not longer 1922...I probably WON'T see the carolers... Either way, just don't bring me any "Figgy Pudding" because it will just go to waste. I've never tasted it, but I'm sure I won't like it...

Just Another Post

Okay, so after reading Matthew's comment on my previous post, I feel a little bad. I didn't mean to sound vicious! So, I apologize if you were offended by my post. Matthew was right...I should have invited him to church. That would've been the right thing to do.

Okay, so let's play "Guess that Movie!" I'll give a movie line, and you comment with the answer.

So here is the line: "That was TOTALLY WICKED!"

The first person to correctly respond will be the winner!!! What will they win you ask? Well, the title of "WINNER" of course!

Sleep well mi compadres!

Just for Fun

Okay, so I have some fun things to share with you all. I cannot take credit for finding the first two. I have to give credit where credit is due. Thanks Charlie for sharing these cool links with everyone on your site. I thought I'd share them as well!

The first link is Mansion Impossible. It's pretty darn cool. I had fun with it last night. Go ahead, click the link, read the instructions, and play away! See how well you do!

This next one is absolutely hysterical. I've already watched it like 5 times, and laughed each time. In fact, I'll probably watch it again after publishing this post. "He was injured!" HA! This one has to be my favorite! You'll probably agree after watching it!

Man oh man! I don't know what to say to prep this one, except that, I'm blessed! You know why? Because I'm not Sarah!

For this one, I actually searched for it across the internet. You all remember the apple commercials a while back that had everyday people (as well as celebrities) talking about their switch to apple? (I'm right there with them! I love my iMac G5!) Anyway, you may remember the fame of Ellen Feiss. Her commercial seemed a bit off and it was rumored that she showed up on set under the influence, if you know what I mean...and I think you do! HA! Also, they have all the commercials up (including the celebrity switchers), so if you want to check them out, go right ahead.

I remember seeing this one a while back. I thought it was pretty funny! The Antiboredom Campaign put together a pretty funny clip!

If you think farting is great comedy, then you have to check this one out! It's a good one! "My feet are on fire!"

Lee Children!

Okay, enough about the hurricane and all that jazz! Like I said in my previous post, I got to visit Heidi and her family while in Quitman.

Her daughter, Moriah looks just like her! She's a doll! I didn't even tell her to pose, this just came naturally to her! HA!

Moriah

Moriah then wanted to play with the camera, so I let her hold it and tried to help her take a picture, and here is what came out of that! HAHA!

Staci by Moriah

Here is a picture of her youngest boy, Elijah! He looks nothing like any of her other children (except for the curls). His red hair is sooo cute. He looks just like Heidi's dad. Anyway, he was really close to the camera...so adorable!

Elijah

Lastly, here is a picture of her three beautiful children, Isaiah, Moriah & Elijah. Isaiah is 5, Moriah is almost 3, and Elijah will be 2 in February.

Trio

Heidi is actually due to have another at the end of this month! They don't know if it's a boy or a girl. My prediction is that it will be a girl! I can't wait to find out!

See Rita's Fury!

I told you all I would have some photos for you to see. Don't worry, I won't bore you with ALL of them, but I'll just give you a few.

First I'll show you some pictures of our house/neighborhood. Here is the tree in our backyard that blew over on top of our house, but it didn't do any damage, so that's good. I think the high wind pulled off a roof cap (or whatever those things are called), but that's minor...no biggie!

Tree

This picture was taken from the back porch, and as you can see we are able to look into our neighbor's backyards. Rita blew over all our fences.

Backyard

But not all was lost with the down fences. This day we did not have electricity, and it was in the upper 90's outside. Needless to say, we were all beyond overheated. Our neighbor's weren't home, so we decided to use their pool to cool off!

Neighbor's pool

Here is a picture in Kountze, TX taken off Hwy 69 headed south into Lumberton. As you can see, one of the traffic lights is down, and to the left, you'll see some building damage.

Kountze, Texas

And lastly, here is a picture of Hollywood Theaters on Dowlen Road in Beaumont, Texas. Yikes!

Hollywood Theater

Even though I was pulled away from my home for over a week, I did have a good time in Quitman. I got to see my best friend, Heidi and her adorable family. I took some pictures of her little cutie pie children, and I'll be sharing them with you in an upcoming post. Talk to you all soon!

Away from Home

Hey Everyone!

I know you've all been dying for a new post on my blog! (especially you, Charlie! haha! I got your email, so here is a post for ya!)

I've got some photos of my house, my church and some things around the city of Beaumont. Right now, my family (with the exception of Nate) is in a cabin on Lake Quitman, in Quitman, Texas (about 4 hours north of where I currently reside in Lumberton. It's also where I grew up). We only have a temporary dial-up internet service, so uploading those photos and then posting them to the blog would take an eternity. We're heading back to Lumberton on Monday because our neighborhood actually has power. The city of Beaumont, on the other hand, does not. I think some gas stations are receiving fuel, and maybe some grocery stores are opening up, so hopefully we won't feel TOO stranded there. Anyway, when I get back to Lumberton, I'll share the photos with you all.

Lamar University is extending the semester by a couple of weeks or so into the final exams week, and the finals will just be on the last class day. I was concerned about all this because I didn't wan't the semester to be postponed, which would delay my August graduation...which would NOT have been cool. But all is well on that front.

Anyway, we've got some old friends headed to the cabin for a snack and game night! It should be fun...in fact, they're pulling up right now! Hope everyone is well, and I'll be talking to you all soon!
